More Cards!

Here are a couple more cards I just finished. The top image of each set is the front/back, with the large spread on the inside. I had a lot of fun! More to come!

The Innermost Thoughts of Ariel Cole...

Confession: My secret dream (well, not so secret anymore) is to be a comic strip artist. I have always been a little obsessed with Calvin and Hobbes, The Far Side, and Zits, and I once got this book about illustrating comics when I was pretty little, and I read it ALL the time. I even wrote several letters to syndicates that I fully intended to mail, as an 11 year old, but never did. Anyway, I randomly think of images or jokes that would make great comics, so of course, I just have to put them on paper! At least my husband and I have a good laugh....even if we are the only ones! Here are a few I've done recently. And stay posted! More to come!

Another CAR-d!

Here's another card I've done for a job recently. It has been fun to branch out a little and illustrate cars!

Just a little Abstract Fun!

Wow, it's been a while since I've posted!

I really love geometric abstract art. Its fun for me because I don't over-think, I just kinda zone out and enjoy myself. Here are a couple pieces I've done:

Out of My Element

I'm not really into fantasy.

Okay, so I love Harry Potter (the hub and I have a HP marathon every November!) and The Lord of the Rings (also in the regular 'marathon' rotation), and I am definitely intrigued by fantasy...but I just have a hard time drawing it.

You know, trolls, elves, orcs, pixies...I don't really know the difference (even after watching TLOTR series).

But my husband loves all things fantasy. In fact, he has been writing an amazing fantasy novel and it will probably be some epic movie series in the next 20 years. So get excited! Anyway, he is always trying to get me to draw him something fantastical.

So I decided what the heck.

And you know what? I liked it! A lot actually! Getting out of my element is healthy, I think.
I think I'll do it more often. It's just a quick sketch, but it was a good exercise for my creative muscles.

Cool-Wig-Man

So my husband and I have been watching the HBO John Adams movie. It is super good, and has really opened my eyes to the embarrassing amount that I did not know about American history.

As I watched though, I became fascinated by the fashion and political wardrobe choice I will call the "Curly Wig Wonder." No disrespect to the wonderful Founding Fathers intended, but it is really hilarious to me that they wore super curly, long wigs to conduct affairs.

Anyway. I hope you enjoy this little sketch. I had fun. Enjoy.

Some Fun Sketches

This one was a lot of fun. I just selected areas with the lasso tool and filled with different opacities of color. Work in progress. I think I want to add some background elements.

I'm having fun trying some new things on Photoshop. Yay!
